WEPP-KP’s Activities Background with SP&GM Section, P&DD-KP
The Planning and Development Department (P&DD) is the parent department of the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (GoKP) for leading all the development projects working under GoKP. P&DD has recently established Social Protection & Gender Mainstreaming (SP&GM) section in its department for incorporating gender and screening the development projects from the gender and social protection lens. Women’s Empowerment & Political Participation project in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (WEPP-KP) with the financial support of the Government of Canada is working for women empowerment and its political participation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa since 2019, partnered with the SP&GM section of the P&DD in 2020 for providing technical support to the Section in the form of capacity building trainings on multiple gender related themes and also in designing of its 5-Year Strategic Plan, Communication Plan and Public Relationing Toolkit for streamlining its activities and initiatives for next five year and improve the outreach of its initiatives within the community and government departments. In this regard, WEPP-KP trained the officials of the SP&GM section on Gender Responsive Leadership, Management and Communication Skills in December 2020. Designing of 5-Years Strategic, Communication Plan and Public Relationing Toolkit is also in progress.
Ms. Fazeelat Jehan is Chief of the SP&GM Section, P&DD-KP. She is leading the section in all its initiatives including designing of 5-Year Strategic Plan, Communication Plan and Public Relationing Toolkit with the technical support of the WEPP-KP. She was trained by WEPP-KP in December 2020 on Gender Responsive Leadership, Management and Communication Skills. She shared the below-mentioned impact of the training provided by WEPP-KP:

“I was sitting on my office table alone with a Piece of Paper in front, glancing at it with deep thoughts”. WEPP-KP team enters the office for congratulating me on the establishment of the SP&GM section and my appointment as Chief of the Section. I shared my teaching with the WEPP-KP team regarding moving forward effectively, efficiently and sustainably with limited resources for guidance. They discussed the Section’s Terms of References (TORs) in detail and guided me where can I approach resource hunting.”
“I along with other women Chiefs and Assistant Chiefs of the P&DD-KP was invited for the training on gender-responsive leadership, management and communication skills on 15-17 December 2020 arranged by WEPP-KP. In response to the learning, I got from the training and being the chief of the SP&GM Section, now I am now leading the Section more efficiently in designing the 5-Year Strategic Plan, Communication Strategy, and Public Relationing Toolkit with the support of WEPP-KP. These three milestones are building blocks for the gender section and they will play a key role in mainstreaming gender in all government departments of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as P&DD is the parent department leading all the development project working under Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
