Training on Gender Responsive Evidence Based Research

Women’s Empowerment & Political Participation project in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (WEPP-KP) with the financial support of Global Affairs Canada (GAC) organized a two days training workshop from 19-20 November 2020 at Ramada Hotel in Islamabad. The participants of the said training included officials of the Social Welfare Department (SWD), the KP Commission on Status of Women (KPCSW), and the Planning and Development (P&D) department.  There was a total of 15 participants for the training. Out of these, there were 9 female and 6 male participants in the training.

The main objectives of the training were:

  1. To enhance understanding about the basic gender terminology, gender and development, and a comparison of gender facts and figures across developing and developed countries.
  2. To contextualize the gender roles and responsibilities, equality and equity including social status in KP culture;
  3. To provide knowledge and skills of evidence-based research and the indicators of gender responsiveness.
  4. To make the participants learn about the qualitative and quantitative research designs to study the women political participation and the participation of women in the decision-making processes.
  5. To make the participants better understand the rationale and procedure involved in the research project evaluation.
  6. To sensitize the participants about the gender-inclusive standard operating procedures (SOPs) for field research in the case of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.


Internal Staff Training on Fire Emergency and Safety

Women’s Empowerment and Political Participation project in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (WEPP-KP) with the financial support of Global Affairs Canada (GAC) conducted two days of all internal WEPP-KP staff training on 12-13 November 2020 regarding fire emergency and safety. The session has been conducted by Security Risk Manager WEPP-KP, Mr. Muhammad Haroon Siddiqui. The WEPP-KP staff was briefed regarding precautionary measures that need to be taken in case of fire incidents and the use of equipment and safety protocols within the office.


Orientation Session on LGS Website & Online Training Platform

On 5th November 2020, the Women’s Empowerment & Political Participation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (WEPP-KP) project with the financial support of Global Affairs Canada (GAC) arranged an orientation session for the Master Trainers and staff of the Local Governance School (LGS) on the use of an online training platform that was provided with the technical support of WEPP-KP. The purpose of this orientation was to let Master Trainers and LGS staff know how to use the online platform during COVID-19 for training the participants not only from urban areas but also the women from far-off areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
