Consultation Workshop on Effective Role of Parliamentarians in Women’s Empowerment & Political Participation with WPC & KPCSW

Women’s Empowerment and political participation project in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (WEPP-KP) in partnership with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Commission on Status of Women (KPCSW) arranged the consultation workshop with Women Parliamentary Caucus (WPC) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on 22-23 October 2020 at Pearl Continental Hotel, Bhurban. It has been conducted for networking and establishing linkages between the KPCSW, government departments, and other stakeholders for generating the recognition of KPCSW as the peak body for women’s empowerment and gender equality in the province and generating buy-in to and support for their work. In pursuit of this end, the project organized this to raise collective awareness of each other’s mandate and facilitate coordination and cooperation around mutual areas of interest.

The workshop has been attended by MPA & Chairperson WPC, Ms. Maliha Asghar Ali Khan, MPA & General Secretary WPC, Ms. Ayesha Bano, MPA & Member WPC, Dr. Sumera Shams, MPA & Member WPC, Ms. Sajida Hanif, MPA & Member WPC, Ms. Madiha Nisar, MPA & Member WPC, Ms. Anita Mehsud, and MPA & Member WPC, Ms. Baseerat Khan. It has also been attended by Secretary KPCSW, Ms. Farzana Afzal, Chairperson KPCSW, Dr. Riffat Sardar, Director Programme KPCSW, Ms. Amna Durrani, and other officers of KPCSW. Senior Development Officer GAC, Mr. Arshad Gill also observed and participated in the workshop. Team Leader WEPP-KP, Ms. Shabina Gulzar, Gender Equality Advisor WEPP-KP, Ms. Zuhra Luqman, Policy Advisor WEPP-KP, Mr. Ikram Khan, and other WEPP-KP staff also attended the workshop.
