Implementation of KPCSW Communication Plan: Youth Camp of University Students at Bara Gali

The project supported one workshop as part of the implementation of communication plan of KPCSW. KPCSW requested WEPP-KP for accommodating its 5 Staff Members for one day in a four-day workshop with a youth group that was the students of the University of Peshawar at the Bara Gali campus of the University of Peshawar on 28 October – 1st November 2020. Topics related to Sexual Harassment, Gender-Based Violence and Youth Social and political participation have been discussed. KPCSW conducted a one-day session on communicating the role and achievements of the Commission and discussed the rights and issues of the women in KP.

Consultation Workshop on Effective Role of Parliamentarians in Women’s Empowerment & Political Participation with WPC & KPCSW

Women’s Empowerment and political participation project in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (WEPP-KP) in partnership with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Commission on Status of Women (KPCSW) arranged the consultation workshop with Women Parliamentary Caucus (WPC) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on 22-23 October 2020 at Pearl Continental Hotel, Bhurban. It has been conducted for networking and establishing linkages between the KPCSW, government departments, and other stakeholders for generating the recognition of KPCSW as the peak body for women’s empowerment and gender equality in the province and generating buy-in to and support for their work. In pursuit of this end, the project organized this to raise collective awareness of each other’s mandate and facilitate coordination and cooperation around mutual areas of interest.

The workshop has been attended by MPA & Chairperson WPC, Ms. Maliha Asghar Ali Khan, MPA & General Secretary WPC, Ms. Ayesha Bano, MPA & Member WPC, Dr. Sumera Shams, MPA & Member WPC, Ms. Sajida Hanif, MPA & Member WPC, Ms. Madiha Nisar, MPA & Member WPC, Ms. Anita Mehsud, and MPA & Member WPC, Ms. Baseerat Khan. It has also been attended by Secretary KPCSW, Ms. Farzana Afzal, Chairperson KPCSW, Dr. Riffat Sardar, Director Programme KPCSW, Ms. Amna Durrani, and other officers of KPCSW. Senior Development Officer GAC, Mr. Arshad Gill also observed and participated in the workshop. Team Leader WEPP-KP, Ms. Shabina Gulzar, Gender Equality Advisor WEPP-KP, Ms. Zuhra Luqman, Policy Advisor WEPP-KP, Mr. Ikram Khan, and other WEPP-KP staff also attended the workshop.

Publication: KPCSW Mandate Booklet

Women’ Empowerment and Political Participation project in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (WEPP-KP) with the financial support of Global Affairs Canada (GAC) and on the request of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Commission on Status of Women (KPCSW) designed, drafted, and printed the booklet that includes the mandate of KPCSW clearly both in English and Urdu. It was a challenge for KPCSW to let every department know regarding the mandate of their department. This booklet will really help them in communicating their mandate in different government departments in an effective way. The booklet has been officially handed over by Gender Equality Advisor WEPP-KP, Ms. Zuhra Luqman on 15th October 2020 to the Secretary KPCSW, Ms. Farzana Afzal, and Chairperson KPCSW, Dr. Riffat Sardar.

Publication: Poster for Anti-Harassment of Women at Workplace

Women’ Empowerment and Political Participation project in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (WEPP-KP) with the financial support of Global Affairs Canada (GAC) and on the request of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Commission on Status of Women (KPCSW) designed the informational chart that includes the law that was passed in 2010 by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly against anti-harassment of women at the workplace, the penalties in case of disobedience, behavior that should be maintained with women colleagues, information regarding the departments to be contacted in case of harassment, and the instructions for employees for reporting any harassment. KPCSW will place the chart in their office at the most visible places and they will also distribute it in other government departments as well. The chart was officially handed over by Gender Equality Advisor WEPP-KP, Ms. Zuhra Luqman on 15th October 2020 to the Secretary KPCSW, Ms. Farzana Afzal, and Chairperson KPCSW, Dr. Riffat Sardar
