Publication: KPCSW Annual Report 2019-20

Women Empowerment & Political Participation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (WEPP-KP) project with the financial support of Global Affairs Canada (GAC) is providing technical support to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Commission on Status of Women (KPCSW) for the empowerment of women both in political and public life in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Due to the importance of cooperation and partnership among WEPP-KP and KPCSW, KPCSW in its annual report for the year 2019-20, highlighted the activities that were supported by WEPP-KP during the same period.

Within this report, on page 28, they mentioned the meeting with the GAC mission that was convened in November 2019 for the orientation of the WEPP-KP project and the introduction of the officials of GAC and KPCSW.

On page 36 of this report, they mentioned the very effective and important social media & radio campaign for the awareness and eradication of domestic violence against women during COVID-19 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa that was supported by the WEPP-KP in June 2020.

WEPP-KP also facilitated KPCSW in the printing of this report for their sharing with government departments and public relations organizations for awareness regarding their activities.

On 30th September 2020, KPCSW Annual Report 2019-20 has been officially handed over to Chairperson KPCSW, Dr. Riffat Sardar by Team Leader WEPP-KP, Ms. Shabina Gulzar. Director Programme KPCSW, Ms. Amna, and Gender Equality Advisor WEPP-KP, Ms. Zuhra Luqman were also present at the occasion.

Publication: KPCSW Communication Strategy

Women Empowerment & Political Participation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (WEPP-KP) project with the financial support of Global Affairs Canada (GAC) provides technical assistance to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Commission on Status of Women (KPCSW) in creating the Communication Strategy for the effective and timely communication of their activities. It will help KPCSW in improving and increasing its reach within government departments and the public and it will support government departments and the public to understand and know the purpose, role, and activities of KPCSW.

The KPCSW Communication Strategy book has been officially handed over to the Chairperson KPCSW, Dr. Riffat Sardar by Team Leader WEPP-KP, Ms. Shabina Gulzar on 30th September 2020. Director Programme KPCSW, Ms. Amna, and Gender Equality Advisor WEPP-KP, Ms. Zuhra Luqman were also present at the occasion.

Publication: KPCSW Public Relationing Toolkit

Women Empowerment & Political Participation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (WEPP-KP) project with the financial support of Global Affairs Canada (GAC) provides technical assistance to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Commission on Status of Women (KPCSW) in designing Public Relationing Toolkit for the use of communication tools like social media, print & electronic media, and ways of engaging government departments and community members for the effective and timely communication of their activities. It will help KPCSW in improving and increasing its reach and understanding of its role and purpose within government departments and the community members.

The KPCSW Public Relationing Toolkit has been officially handed over to the Chairperson KPCSW, Dr. Riffat Sardar by Team Leader WEPP-KP, Ms. Shabina Gulzar on 30th September 2020. Director Programme KPCSW, Ms. Amna Durrani, and Gender Equality Advisor WEPP-KP, Ms. Zuhra Luqman were also present at the occasion.

KPCSW PR Toolkit

Training of Trainers on Gender Mainstreaming

Women Empowerment & Political Participation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (WEPP-KP) project with the financial support of Global Affairs Canada (GAC) arranged the training of trainers on gender mainstreaming at Local Governance School, Peshawar on 21-23 September 2020. The purpose of the training was to increase the capacity of the master trainers on gender subjects for women empowerment and their equal participation in public life and political activities.

15 participants with 10 males and 5 females from different government departments and multiple professions participated in the training. The training was participatory in nature and participants participated in different group activities, role-plays, presentations, and dialogues. Participants expressed their views openly and have shown respect to each other views. They shared their experiences regarding women’s issues both in professional and personal life. They proposed solutions for the issues that women faced and also learn about different laws and regulations in Pakistan and the world regarding women for the first time.

Certificates among the participants were distributed in the special arrangement at the end of the last day. The chief guest at the occasion, Provincial Minister for LGE & RDD, Mr. Akbar Ayub distributed the certificates among the participants. Secretary Local Council Board, Mr. Khizer Hayat, Director LGS, Mr. Barkat Ullah Durrani, and WEPP-KP team were also present at the occasion.

Internal Staff Orientation on Gender Mainstreaming

With the motive of “Change from Home”, the Women’s Empowerment & Political Participation project in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (WEPP-KP) conducted the one-day orientation session for all internal staff regarding sensitization on gender mainstreaming on 18th September 2020. Gender Equality Advisor, Ms. Zuhra Luqman conducted the session. The WEPP-KP staff was orientated regarding women’s harassment issues at the workplace and how to maintain coordination and working relationships with women colleagues. The staff was also briefed about the rules and regulations of Cowater International, Pakistani, and Canadian Government regarding women at the workplace.

 

Documentary: Inauguration of Local Governance School Website & Online Training Platform

On 15th September 2020, Local Governance School (LGS) inaugurated its official website and online training platform that has been provided with the technical support of Women Empowerment & Political Participation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (WEPP-KP) project and financial support of the Global Affairs Canada (GAC). The purpose of the website and online training platform is to improve the communication and publication of documentation of LGS, continuation of trainings during COVID-19, and make the trainings of LGS more inclusive by the participation of females from far-off areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa through an online training platform.

The event was supposed to be inaugurated by the Special Assistant to Chief Minister for LGE & RDD, Mr. Kamran Khan Bangash but due to his other urgent meeting, Secretary Local Council Board, Mr. Khizer Hayat Khan inaugurated the website and online training platform.

Director LGS, Mr. Barkat Ullah along with the LGS officials, WEPP-KP team, officials from UNDP and GiZ, and media personnel also attended the event.

Mr. Khizer Hayat and Mr. Barkat Ullah thanks the WEPP-KP and GAC for providing such an important facility to the LGS. Ms. Shabina Gulzar, Team Leader WEPP-KP also thank the LGS for the support and hoped that the website and online training platform will serve its purpose.
